"WALK IN NATURE" - BELVEDERE DI MONTEPIANO

Yesterday we launched our 1st excursion "Walk in Nature" and it was a fantastic day out that confirmed, if there was any need, the sheer natural beauty of Abruzzo. We started with the Convent of San Francesco Caracciolo in Roccamontepiano, with Father Giulio who proudly told us the history of yet another secret gem of our territory. We conitnued a short drive to Montepiano where accompanied by our expert certified guide Nicoletta we walked along the footpath towards the Belvedere di Montepiano. We stopped to listen to our guide explaining the varieties of trees and wild flowers we enocountered, the story of this magnificent plateau that stretches for about 1.5km all easy and flat. Nicoletta kept the big surprise till the end when we reached the Belvedere..... And no one spoke for few minutes, taken aback by the truly breathtaking views we had in fron of us.
We returned to the starting point where Piero laid out a very simple but super delicious picnic. On the table there was a selection of products from the family run organic farm, an array of incredibly good but simple and flavoursome food and superb wine. This was nothing less than the perfect ending to yet a perfect day.
