THE ETERNAL CITY, ROMAN LIFE, GASTRONOMY & RUGBY HISTORY BEING MADE. AND WE WERE THERE! PART 1.....

27 Marzo 2026

Rome is a city that will never stop surprising me. I have been many, many times and part of my family lives there but every time I visit I discover something new and wonderful.
This years visit was special for many reasons. The group I took along with me for the 6 Nations Rugby tour spanned near on 20 years of friendship and tours between them with me, and to top it all Italy won the Rugby match making Rugby history! Did I mention it????
We spent a week together exploring the inside and the hinterlands of Rome. When in the Eternal City you start thinking all the churches are the same as there is one in practically every street you visit but how wrong we were. Each has it's own identity and beauty, we saw Caravaggio paintings, Michaelangelo sculptures, frescoes that blew our minds painted by great masters of the arts and Relics with incredible history and stories attatched. These true masterpieces are all for free to see if you know where to find them.
We explored the Jewish Quarter, Campo dei Fiore with it's buzzing market and took a stroll along the Tiber crossing the Ponte Sant Angelo passing by The Vatican city. The architecture ancient and modern together is a feast for the eyes.....
After all the walking an aperitivo was in order so we headed up to the roof bar on top of the hotel together to enjoy a spritz whilst enjoying the spectacular views of the St Peters Dome and the classic scene of the rooftops of Rome.
