Tour Program
DAY 1
A Gateway to Abruzzo
Independent arrival in pescara. For your convenience, transfers to your accommodation are available from Pescara International Airport, the Central Railway Station, or the Bus Terminal, please advise Passucci Travel upon booking your place. After the checking into your accommodation, meet your tour Assistant for a detailed briefing on the wanders ahead. You will also receive your Passucci Travel Welcome Pack & Gift.
Evening: Welcome dinner at a hand-picked local restaurant, wine included.
DAY 2
Giants of Stone and the Liquid Gold
After breakfast, step back into the 5th century as we transfer to Monte Pallano. Here, you will find the "Megalithic Walls", enigmatic polygonal huge stone walls whose origins remain a subject of historical debate. After exploring the ancient city with our local expert guide, we will enjoy a light lunch based on a selection of local typical products and accompanied by a glass of local beer, at "Ristoro Tholos", nestled within a millennial forest of holm oak and beech trees.
In the afternoon, we visit Tornareccio, the "Capital of Honey". This village is a living gallery, known for its Mosaic Street Art. We will visit an organic honey producer to learn the vital role of bee-keeping enjoying a tasting of their world-class varieties and flavours of honey. A guided walk with the curator of "Un Mosaico per Tornareccio" will reveal how the town's walls have become a canvas for intricate contemporary mosaics.

DAY 3
From Medieval Shadows to Samnite Secrets.
Breakfast. Prepare for one of Italy's most breathtaking sights: The castle of Roccascalegna, a medieval fortress seemingly suspended on a razor-thin rock spur. Wrapped in legends of "Ius Primae Noctis" and haunting history, it offers a dramatic look into Abruzzo's soul. We will then journey further back in time to Iuvanum, a vital pre-Roman archaerological site once belonging to the Samnite Carricini Tribe (4th/ 2nd Century BC). A local expert will guide you through the ruins and the on-site museum. After the visit we will enjoy a delicious light lunch at a nearby farmhouse featuring products grown on the very land you are exploring, accompanied by a glass of local wine.

DAY 4
The "Untamed Costa dei Trabocchi"
After breakfast we will head to the coast to visit the Abbey of San Giovanni in Venere. Built in the 11th cnetury atop a pagan temple dedicasted to Venus, the stunning Romanesque style Abbey features a beautiful intricate original portal and the crypt adorned with 12th century frescoes.
Afterward, we descend to the Marina di San Vito. This is the heart of the Costa dei Trabocchi, named for the ancient fishing platforms (thought to have been introduced by the Phoenician people) that dot this stretch of the Adriatic coast. We will board bycicles to ride the "Ciclovia dei Trabocchi", a spectacular cycling path that replaced the dismissed Adriatic Railway line. We'll stop at the legendary Dora's Bar, which has been serving some of Italy's finest artisanal gelato since 1940's.

DAY 5
The Warrior and the City of Achilles
After breakfast we will visit Chieti, a city supposedly founded by the Greek hero Achilles in 1181 BC. Chieti is a masterclass in urban layers, where Roman temples sit confortably next to 18th century elegant boulevards and beautiful architecture. At the National Archaeological Museum of Abruzzo, you will come face-to-face with the "Capestrano Warrior", a haunting, larger than life 6th century BC limestone statue discvered just after the end of WW2 in the countryside outside the town of Capestrano, hence the its name.
You can enjoy a drink or a light bite to eat at the Liberty style Gran Caffè Vittoria before exploring in the early afternoon La Civitella archaeologicl park, home to a massive Roman amphitheatre.

DAY 6
Vasto, "The Athens of Anbruzzo"
After breakfast departure to Vasto, a charming beautiful hilltop town blending Roman ruins with Renaissance elegance. A true shining gem also known as the "Athens of Abruzzo". We will explore the 15th century Castello Caldoresco (only externally as it is privatly owned), the 13th century Cathedral of San Giuseppe, the Roman baths, and the Palazzo D'Avalos with its lush Neapolitan Gardens. We will walk the Loggia Amblingh, a panoramic balcony with stunning views overlooking the Golden Gulf.
- Lunch: A true culinary event, Brodetto alla Vastese. This traditional fish stew is a ritual in Vasto, cooked in large terracotta pots and requiring hours of preparation, accompanied by a glass of local delicious Pecorino wine..
- Afternoon: A visit to the Punta Aderci Nature Reserve, where the wild coast meets crystal-clear water.
- Evening: At your leisure.
DAY 7
The Art of Abruzzese Living
After breakfast spend the morning relaxing or souvenir hunting. In the afternoon, we host a surprise Cooking Experience. Under the guidance of a local "Nonna", you will learn to hand-craft a traditional recipe while picking up essentialò phrases in the local Abruzzese dialect.
- Evening: A farewell dinner to toast our journey, share photos, and celebrate newfound friendships, wine included.
DAY 8
Farewell
After breakfast and check out, transfers to Pescara for your return journey, carrying the spirit of the "Open-Air Museum" with you.

Practical advices
Spring to Autumn trip we recommend you bring factor 30+ sun protection, sun hat, mosquito repellent, beach wear, light jumper/sweater, water proof.
Late Autumn and Winter sensible warm clothing, comfortable walking/trainer shoes necessary for some activities are advisable.
