Abruzzo winemaking traditions date back to the 6th Century BC thanks to the Etruscans, who played a major role in introducing viniculture to the area. The star grape is certainly the native red Montepulciano D'Abruzzo, followed by the white grape Trebbiano D'Abruzzo and together with the rosé Cerasuolo D'Abruzzo made with 100% Montepulciano grapes represent the 3 main DOC Appellation in Abruzzo. Other white native grapes include the Pecorino, the Passerina, the Cococciola and the Montonico, which will play an important part of your Wine Discovery Tour. It will be a journey through time discovering and tasting some of the best wines you will ever come across, whilst visiting stunning castles, beautiful vineyards and breath-taking landscapes, all accompanied by superb gastronomy.

Tour Program
DAY 1
Arrival at Pescara Airport, meet with your Tour Assistant and transfer to the 4* Hotel Miramare Village beautifully located overlooking this stunning unspoilt stretch of Abruzzo's Adriatic Coast, known as "The Costa dei Trabocchi". After check in you will receive your welcome pack and depending on your time of arrival, you will enjoy an aperitivo or time to relax by the pool with a refreshing drink. At 8.00pm dinner with wine at the hotel restaurant.
DAY 2
Breakfast; at 9.30am departure to the amazing Castello di Semivicoli to visit one of the most renowned wineries in the world, right here in Abruzzo, "The Tenuta Masciarelli". You will visit the beautifully preserved medieval castle, the production area and learn the history of the Masciarelli wine producer family. After the visit you will taste a selection of their best wines and Extra Virgin Olive Oil accompanied by a selection of local products and a traditional pasta dish. In the afternoon, before returning to your accommodation you will stop for a gentle stroll through the historic centre of the splendid ancient town of Guardiagrele with incredible views towards the coast and the mountains majestic behind. In the evening dinner with wine at the hotel restaurant.
DAY 3
Breakfast; at 9.30am, departure towards Tollo on the hills just a few kilometers from the beautiful Costa dei Trabocchi, to visit the "Feudo Antico Winery" part of the Cantine Tollo. Feudo Antico lays next to an ancient Roman Villa where traces of ancient viticulture and wine making have been discovered. You will learn the philosophy behind the Feudo Antico Project based on innovation, preservation and regeneration of the territory and its cultivar. You will visit the vineyards, the remains of the Roman Villa, taste 4 superior wines of the DOCG Tullum collection accompanied by a selection of local products. Before returning to your accommodation, you will stop at the picturesque hamlet of San Vito Marina, a little gem along the Costa dei Trabocchi, for a stroll and you can indulge yourself with one of the best artisan gelato you will ever have tasted. At 8.00pm enjoy a typical Abruzzese Fish dinner with wine.
DAY 4
Breakfast; at 9.30am departure towards the beautiful medieval city of Lanciano, where you will have a stroll through the cobbled narrow streets of Lanciano Vecchia, and the medieval quarter of Civitanova with it's beautiful architecture, churches adorned with frescoes, 15th century paintings, and elegant palaces. There will be bars to enjoy a cappuccino with the local traditional "Bocconotto" pastry from Lanciano. Afterwards you will head towards the "Eredi Legonziano" winery where since 2004 the core business has concentrated on the production of fine sparkling wines produced with the Charmat Method as well as the Classic Champagne Method. The native white grapes, the location of the vineyards planted on the hills, protected by the Majestic Mountains of the Majella National Park, the night & day temperatures, the soil and the favourable microclimate are the perfect combination for making "Eredi Legonziano" Sparkling wine collection amongst some of the finest in Italy. After the visit you will return to your accommodation for some relaxation time before enjoying your good bye dinner with wine at 8.00pm
DAY 5
Breakfast; check out and transfer to Pescara Airport for your homebound flight.

Practical advices
Spring to Autumn trips we recommend you bringfactor 30+ sun protection, sun hat, mosquito repellent, beach wear, light jumper/sweater and water proof.
Late Autumn to early Srping sensible warm clothing, confortable walking/trainer shoes for some activities are advisible.
