Tour Program

DAY 1

Arrival at Pescara Airport, meet your tour leader and transfer to the Hotel MIramare Village and check in. Welcome drink, bike set up, briefing about the itinerary and other questions you might have. Dinner with drinks at the hotel restaurant.

 

DAY 2

Hotel Miramare – Nature Reserve of Punta Aderci – Vasto Marina – Vasto City – Hotel MIramare

Ride Details: Level Tourist – Surface mainly tarmac + short off road – Total distance ↔ 54km – Total riding time 3h30m – Max height ↑171mt – Total ascent ↗418mt

We will leave Hotel Miramare at 9.30am to join the beautiful Ciclovia dei Trabocchi, the former Adriatic Railway line now transformed into a cycling/walking route that runs from north to south of the Abruzzo Adriatic Coastline, about 140km. We will head southwards to Punta Aderci Nature Reserve with a short climb to the top of the promontory presenting stunning views and where photos are highly recommended; riding on to the iconic Punta Penna Lighthouse which is one of the highest in the Mediterranean and in an out of few tunnels to reach Marina di Vasto. We will continue our ride up a gentle climb to the picturesque medieval main city of Vasto Alta, its beautiful historic centre, with the 12th century Caldoresco Castle, the Romanic Cathedral and the Palazzo D’Avalos. We will then enjoy a little spot of lunch in one of the little traditional trattorias along the Loggia Amblingh with breathtaking views over the coas. We will make our way back to the Ciclovia and head back to Hotel Miramare. Free time to enjoy the pool and 8pm dinner with wine at the hotel restaurant.

 

DAY 3

Hotel Miramare – Lido di Casalbordino – Casalbordino Town – Mucci Winery – Torino di Sangro – Torino di Sangro Marina – Hotel Miramare

Ride Details: Level: Tourist – Surface: Tarmac – Total Distance ↔ 40km – Total riding time 3h30m – Max. Height ↑250mt – Total ascent ↗ 437mt

Breakfast; at 9.30am leave from Hotel Miramare and join the cycling route to Lido di Casalbordino. We will then head inland towards the Sanctuary of the Virgin Mary of the Miracles and continue towards the picturesque town of Casalbordino to stop for a coffee or a drink. We will continue towards Torino di Sangro and the Mucci Winery where we will taste some of their best wines accompanied by a selection of local products. After the tasting we will head back towards Torino di Sangro Marina and just before rejoining the coastal cycling path in occasion of the 80th Anniversary of the end of WW2 we will stop to pay tribute to the fallen young soldiers that fought in the 1943/44 Battle of the River Sangro. Ride back to the Hotel MIramare and rest of the day free to enjoy and relax by the pool. 8pm dinner with wine at the hotel restaurant.

 

DAY 4

Breakfast; today will be free for you to enjoy at your own leisure. Depending on time of year and availability, tonight at 8.00pm Gourmet Dining Experience on the Trabocco.

 

DAY 5

6 nights’ accommodation at 4* Hotel Miramare Village in twin room sharing, N.5 dinners with wine at the hotel restaurant, 1 wine tasting with local products, 1 fish dining experience on the Trabocco, guide & assistance, small repairs workshop and safe bike storage, overnight cycling kit laundry service, welcome pack with maps, gps tracks on request, information, energy bars, fruit, snacks and water for your rides, top of the range E-Bike Hire. We will send you a form to fill in with all your details needed to fit you with the right size bike. Please, do inform us if you are bringing your own pedals, saddle, helmet or any other specific bike fittings that you have on your own bike at home. Please note that some changes and adjustments brought to your bike hire might incur extra cost.

Price not include

Flights, Personal Travel Insurance (RECOMMENDED), any extra consumed at the hotel/resort bar or from the minibar, any other extra you consume that are not clearly listed as included, tips to the staff at your discretion, entrance tickets to castles or museums unless clearly stated “Included” in the guided tour, bike rental, extra trips on requests, Local charges such as tourist or city tax may apply and payable in cash at the hotel reception during the check out.

* Please note that the rides are mainly on tarmac with few stretches on well-trodden mixed surface. Riding times are based using a road bike at a leisure pace. The routes in the itinerary might be subject to changes or cancellations due to time of the year, weather conditions or because differently tailored according to your level of fitness and preferences. Rest assured we will endeavour to do our utmost to minimise any disruption whilst making sure you have a fantastic Active Abruzzo Experience.

Practical advices

Spring to Autmn trip we recommend you bring factor 30+ sun protection, sun hat, mosquito repellent, beach wear, light jumper/sweater, water proof.
Late Autumn and Winter sensible warm clothing, comfortable walking/trainer shoes necessary for some activities are advisable.

Passucci International Travel srl requires a 30% deposit (non-refundable) upon booking and full settlement 7 days prior your arrival.

It is a Passucci International Travel srl requirement that you, prior booking your holiday, will make us fully aware of any food allergies, intolerances or any other medical condition you might suffer of.

Travel Insurance is not included but required for all our trips, and should be taken out at time of booking. Images used may not reflect your actual tour experience.

Photos and videos will be taken so we ask your permission to use them for promotional purposes on our social media and newsletters.
