Tour Program

DAY 1

Arrival at the 17th century Castle Estate turned into a luxury wine resort in the heart of Abruzzo. After the check in, accompanied by the hotel manager and a welcome drink, tour the estate and its gardens with the pool. In the evening dinner with wine from the Masciarelli cellar.

DAY 2

Today after breakfast, a short drive (25 minutes) from the estate to visit the beautiful and elegant Roman-era city of Chieti. Start by visiting the majestic Romanic style Cathedral of San Giustino and its crypt. Take a relaxing walk along Corso Marrucino with its historic palaces and the Liberty style Gran Cafè Vittoria.  A must see is the National Archaeological Museum of Abruzzo with one of the most interesting and comprehensive collections of archaeological finds in Italy, including the statue of the Capestrano Warrior, the iconic image of Abruzzo. For lunch we can recommend one of the traditional restaurants serving typical local cuisine. Before heading back to your accommodation, we suggest you take a short drive towards the picturesque medieval town of Villamagna, the smallest DOC wine production area of Abruzzo. Here you will find an opportunity to take some stunning photos from the Belvedere at the top of the town, the views are well beyond breathtaking. Later on drive back to Semivicoli and relax in the gardens or by the pool. In the evening you can enjoy an Aperitivo Tasting in the garden or dinner in the 17th century olive mill restaurant room (advance booking necessary).

DAY 3

Today after breakfast take an enjoyable drive (about 40 minutes) towards the stunning Costa dei Trabocchi, the ancient fishing huts dotted along this unspoiled stretch of coast. Thought to date back to Etruscan times, those that survived the time, have now been transformed into gourmet fish restaurants, these are a must for a more than unique eating experience. (advanced booking necessary). A day out to this part of the Trabocchi Coast will not be complete without visiting the 11th century Abbey of San Giovanni in Venere and the beautiful hamlet of San Vito Chietino. Both the Abbey and San Vito Chietino can be considered two of the most precious gems on the Abruzzo's Crown. To finish your day in style, a stop at the Bar Gelateria Da Dora in Marina di San Vito has to be taken, to indulge in one of the most scrumptious artisan ice-creams you will ever taste. Drive back to the Castello and rest of the evening at your own leisure.

DAY 4

After breakfast, drive towards Guardiagrele, known as the "Terrace of Abruzzo" for the stunning views towards the coast and as a town of art and craftmanship. Take a leisurly  stroll through the historic centre, which features traditional Majella stone houses, the Cathedral of Santa Maria Maggiore and its beautiful Crypt. Not to be missed is the Museum of Costume Art & Craft and the small artisan workshops particularly famous for gold and copper work. Enjoy a cappuccino in the main square watching the world go by accompanied by the traditional and unique to Guardiagrele pastry known as, the "Sisse de le Monache" literally translated Nun Tit's. The story behind it is still an open debate after more than 150 years, but the pastries are well beyond delicious, trust us. The gastronomy experience in Guardiagrele can touch high peaks, from michelin starred restaurants, gourmet restaurants to the typical trattoria, but rest assured whichever one you choose you will not be disappointed. (advanced booking necessary). In the afternoon head back to your accommodation to enjoy your last moments by the pool and the stunning views over this unique marvellous mountain landscape. In the evening enjoy a gourmet dinner with wine from the "special Masciarelli cellar".
