Tour Program
DAY 1
Arrival at Pescara airport, meet with your tour assistant and transfer to 4* Hotel Miramare village, right on the beautiful Abruzzo’s Costa dei Trabocchi. After check in there will be a briefing about the itinerary and you will receive your welcome pack. At 8.00pm dinner with wine at the hotel restaurant.
DAY 2
Breakfast; at 9.30am departure towards Ortona and accompanied by the local expert you will enjoy a guided walk following in the footsteps of what came to be known as “The Little Stalingrad of Italy”. You will learn all about the events that took place during the “Battle of Ortona” on Christmas 1943. Afterwards you will have some time to have a little stroll through the historic centre where you can see the Aragonese Castle and the beautiful panoramic “Passeggiata Orientale”. Our journey will continue towards Orsogna to enjoy lunch at the farm “Le Mignole”. After lunch before returning to the Hotel, we will stop at the Canadian WW2 Cemetery of The Battle of Ortona” where over two thousands young soldiers found their final resting place. Return to Hotel Miramare and rest of the day and evening free.
DAY 3
Breakfast; at 9.30am departure towards Civitella Messer Raimondo, to meet with the Gustav Line Expert Prof. Adele Garzarella. You will follow and relive the events of those days and learn why the Gustav Line was so important for the German troops to defend. You will discover stories of heroic acts of the local rebels and the strong bond and collaboration that was forged between them and the allied troops. Continuing the walk towards Fara San Martino, and after a short stroll through the historic centre, you will stop for lunch in a local restaurant serving typical Abruzzese cuisine. After lunch, you will stop at the Battle of the Sangro Valley WW2 British Cemetery to pay respect to the thousand of young lives that fought for our freedom. Return to the hotel Miramare and rest of the day free. At 8pm dinner with wine at the hotel restaurant.
DAY 4
Breakfast: Today will be free for you to enjoy at your own leisure. Hotel Miramare Village offers a fantastic Bike Rental service for its guests offering a wide range of road bikes, mountain bikes and e-bikes. A very easy and suitable for everyone bike ride can be organised for you to enjoy the stunning coastal cycling path along the dismissed old Railway line, the “Ciclovia dei Trabocchi”. At 4.30pmthere will be a fun cooking course where you will learn how to make the typical “Chitarrina Abruzzese” pasta and Pallotte Cacio e uova followed by dinner with wine.
DAY 5
Breakfast; at 9.30am departure towards Pizzoferrato. Here accompanied by the local expert, you will learn about more important and crucial events that took place here between the German Troops fighting against the Partisan Rebels and the allied. After the visit you will continue your journey towards Atessa where you will have a lunch with typical local cuisine. After lunch you can enjoy a leisurely walk along the picturesque historic centre of Atessa. Afternoon return to the Hotel Miramare and rest of the day and evening free.
DAY 6
Breakfast; at 9.30am departure towards the medieval town of Guardiagrele from where the German troops controlled the highplane stretching all the way to Orsogna and Ortona. You can take a gentle stroll through the historic centre passing the historic metal workshops that Guardiagrele is famous for as well as the art and craft museum with over 1500 artefacts. At 12.00pm transfer to the bespoke Tilli winery, one of the many excellencies of the territory to taste some of their best wines accompanied by a selection of local products. In the afternoon return to the Hotel Miramare. At 8.00pm good bye dinner with wine.
DAY 7
Breakfast, check out and transfer to Pescara Airport and departure to your home destination.

Practical advices
Spring to Autmn trip we recommend you bring factor 30+ sun protection, sun hat, mosquito repellent, beach wear, light jumper/sweater, water proof.
Late Autumn and Winter sensible warm clothing, comfortable walking/trainer shoes necessary for some activities are advisable.
